Little Splurgie!

Mom and Allie came up to visit last weekend, mostly to pick up Allie's prom dress - she bought it from the same place I purchased my wedding dress, Belle Bridal. We ended up having lunch at Firehouse Pizza in Smithfield and also found our way to a couple boutiques. We headed to the fabric store, mom was looking for material for a baby quilt she's making for a friend. While there I found this awesome material! How cute, huh? I love the colors - I was thinking it would make an adorable baby quilt, when Matt and I get around to that part of our lives. I wanted to buy every bolt of material that matched this stuff also, they had yellows and pinks - I wish!Matt was being silly last night. I brought in towels from the dryer (when I say brought in I mean from our storage area out on our balcony, our dryer hooks up in there) and Matt decided he would put the warm towels on his head. My husband is soooo cute! He's so busy this week, he has lots of papers and projects. It never fails that everything is due at the same time - but he's so good at working under a deadline!
Happy almost Spring weather - lets hope for some warmer days!

I've been dreaming of a vacation lately - I know that we're busy and don't really have time to take off right now, but we're saving up for this trip! Matt has never been to Disney World - and I haven't been in 11 years! So our next fam vacation will be here...Also, we got this post card a few days ago.Our good friends Chris and Brittany got engaged over Spring Break and this is how they broke the news to everyone! How cute is that? They are such an amazing couple, perfect for each other. Congratulations Chris and Brittany, we're so excited for you!

How We Watch the Aggies!

Libby and I watched the Aggie game today - unfortunately they lost a hard-fought battle against Marquette 58-57. We initially thought the game would be broadcast on CBS, but the only game on was Syracuse and SFA, so we had to pull out the computer to connect to the NCAA online feed. But after a while the game showed up on CBS. So we experienced both mediums today! Libby was a hoot today, she was so giggly, making all types of noises! You can't really tell, but Libby is wearing her Aggie t-shirt!

March Madness - for sure!

I have to tell you that this is the very first year I've been really interested in March Madness. Before now I was just one of those people who asked who won the game and didn't really care, but now I care - because my bracket is doing well today. Memphis, Texas A & M, and LSU have taken the win so far, and these are teams I chose to win!! BYU got beat - if you haven't heard, and I just wanted to broadcast it one more time (I'm still not sure why they were allowed in, but it's not my call)!
So far today I've been watching basketball and blogging - it kind of reminds me of my time during the Olympics. When we first moved into our apartment the Olympics had just started, my days were full of swimming, rowing and running - now its the bball!
Utah State faces Marquette tomorrow at 10:30 a.m. and if you're in Utah you can catch it on CBS - the whole tv broadcasting system is regional, for some reason my sister-in-law in Rexburg couldn't get the BYU game today, so it all depends on where you are.
So, I'm obviously having fun with my new-found hobby of basketball watching - here's hoping the Aggies kick butt tomorrow!

Headlines!

So, as you should know, the Aggies are heading to the NCAA tournament in Boise, Idaho. Opening up with Marquette in the first round, the Aggies will look to take it as far as possible! Here are a few headlines from The Herald Journal about the historic NCAA bid! I figured showing you the actual paper would be cooler than just linking you to the article - if you want to read them you can head to hjnews.com.You can take a look at the NCAA bracket and print one out for yourself here. Go Aggies, show us what you're made of!

I also made it to the final home gymnastics meet for the Aggies yesterday - I got this shot of Big Blue rocking a little air guitar!

First Attempt.

I tried something new today. Matt's been sick and hasn't been that hungry, the one thing that sounded good to him was donuts, so I thought I'd make them myself. I found a recipe that wouldn't require me to go to the store, I'm not in the mood for that today, and I set to work in the kitchen. We have a deep fryer, but not enough oil to fill it so I decided to just use a sauce pan with the oil we had. At first the oil wasn't hot enough, then it was too hot - I tried rolling the dough into bigger and smaller spheres, but I had no luck getting them cooked through. Most got burnt or remained doughy. Matt was so nice and supportive, he ate them and kept saying that I was doing a great job. They're really not as bad as they look, but still didn't turn out the way I wanted. So, here's to trying and failing, but still being willing to try again! I'm hoping next time will be better, I'm going to find a new recipe - I don't think this one was too good.

Aggies Going for the WAC Championship!

Hey - just wanted to let everyone know that Utah State will be battling Nevada for the Western Athletic Conference Championship tonight in Reno, Nev. The Aggies defeated New Mexico State 71-70 in the semifinals to get them to this point. The lone senior on the team, Gary Wilkinson, averages 17 points and 6.9 rebounds per game. The match-up will be on ESPN2 at 8 p.m. Help support the Aggies in this race to WAC glory!Junior guard Jared Quayle shooting over a New Mexico State player.

Happy Birthday Dad!

My dad's birthday is tomorrow! Happy b-day, daddy! I just wanted to let everyone know how amazing my dad is. He is the most intelligent, kind and funny man - I always know that dad is there to help and encourage me to be my best. I have so many fond memories of dad - 7-11 runs for a Coke and Hostess Lemon Pie, watching him play baseball and softball, playing catch, mowing the lawn, quoting movies and putting things together (he's the reason I know so much about my car!). Dad has always told us to be who we are and have a positive outlook on life - he also taught us how to read the book and figure it out for ourselves before we ask for help, he knew we could do it. I also love experiencing new things, going to Disneyland, and looking at really cool cars and planes with dad - it's so great when he sees something that makes him act like a kid! We love you dad and hope you have a wonderful birthday!

On the Wall!

After about six months in our apartment we've finally gotten our pictures up on the wall. It took a while to decided where everything would go, but I'm pleased to say that we compromised and made it happen. Just a side note, I'm not the one who did this, Matt is the tool guy - I tried and it ended with me putting a large hole in the wall. So here we are, our little place is feeling more like a home. Now, I need to get some other organizational things done! Our characiture we purchased on our honeymoon in Disneyland hanging in our entryway. Matt gave me this print for my birthday, it quotes my favorite Emily Dickinson poem, "Hope is the thing with feathers that perches in the soul," it hangs nicely in our bathroom!I purchased this print in Stockbridge, Mass. at the Norman Rockwell Museum. This one is my favorite, it's called "The Voyeur" and Matt put it up in our office! One of my bridals and one of our engagements in our kitchen.
Matt took me shopping on my birthday and we ran into these funny hats at Michaels. My husband is so silly! My mom, dad and Allie came up on my birthday and we went to dinner! It was such a wonderful day!
