The Office on Superbowl Sunday!

Wonder what I'm excited for on Superbowl Sunday?

Puppies!

I was watching "The Dog Whisperer" today and decided that I really want an English Bull Terrier! We are such animal people, but we can't have a dog in our apartment, but if we could we would in a second! I also love the way Cesar Millan teaches dogs, he's so wonderful in the way he tackles the tough parts of rehabilitating a dog. I love watching his show because it gives me that puppy fix - it makes me happy!

Go Aggies!

Tonight marks an important match-up in the Western Athletic Conference. The Utah State Aggies will take on the Wolf Pack of the University of Nevada, Reno. Looking to spring to 20-1 on the season and a perfect 8-0 in WAC play, the Aggies will have to dig out the win against a tough 12-7, 2nd ranked Wolf Pack. Everybody come out to the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum at 7 p.m. tonight in support of our amazing Aggie basketball team! Here are some stats to take note of.

• Utah State is in its 104th season of basketball this year and has an overall record of 1,389-990 (.584). USU hasn't had a losing season since the 1992-93 campaign, a span of 15 years, when that team finished with a 10-17 record.

• Utah State is receiving votes in both top-25 polls and is currently ranked 27th in the latest ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll with 56 votes and 35th in the AP poll with 23 votes.

• Utah State has the second-best record and second-most wins in the nation behind Oklahoma who is 20-1. USU has won 14 straight games overall, which is a season-high, and the second-longest active winning streak in the nation behind Saint Mary's (15).

• Utah State's 14-game winning streak is its longest since the 2003-04 team won 17 straight games. It is also the third-longest winning streak in school history behind the 1999-2000 team that won 19 straight games and the 2003-04 team that won 17 straight.

• Utah State is 153-12 (.927) in the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum under Morrill.

• Utah State basketball games are broadcast on KVNU (610 AM) and KLZX (95.9 FM) in Logan, Utah, KFAN (1320 AM) or ESPN Radio (1230 AM) in Salt Lake City and KLZX (105.3 FM) in Montpelier, Idaho, as well as on the internet at www.UtahStateAggies.com. Al Lewis serves as the play-by-play announcer while Rod Tueller serves as the analyst during home games.

Good luck Aggies - do us proud!

New Hair - Kinda

Matt and I were at Walmart doing some shopping yesterday and I decided to buy a box of hair color. I haven't really had time to get my hair highlighted and the dark growth had reached a point where I looked two-toned. So I decided to try it on my own for the first time in ages. It smells weird and I can't decide if I like it. It's still blonde, no sudden changes for me.In other news, Matt has been enjoying a new game on our Playstation 2. He's loves it, and is getting better by the day! It's a great way for him to relax from his busy school and work schedule.I have a new Top Chef favorite - this is another show that I can't stop watching. Since Ariane got booted off in the Blue Hills episode, I'm now rooting for Jamie! I think Jamie has the chops to beat out the guys to end up on top! Be sure to check out the show, it's always exciting and never fails to make me hungry!
And speaking of food, Matt made us a fabulous dinner last night. We were talking about the ground beef residing in our fridge and thought it might go well with fettuccine and some Alfredo sauce. Matt mixed up the concoction with his famous "secret" spice method and it turned out wonderful! I even had some for lunch today!

Inauguration Day!

Since I'm in love with good journalistic photography I just wanted to post a few of my favorites from inauguration day.
I don't know what this day meant to all of you, but I have to tell you I'm really excited for the future with our new president. I'm so proud to live in a country where we can all come together to make change. The change has come.Props to Michelle Obama for a great inaugural ball gown!

New Phone

Well, it's finally happened. I killed my phone - not on purpose. I left my phone in the car Sunday night and discovered it Monday night lying in a pool of water under a drink in the cup holder. Matt and I tried to dry it out, but the phone is finally gone. So, I need to make a choice - which new phone should I get? These are the ones I like...I guess we'll have to see.

When you eat the carrot....

I watched this today during the inauguration. Not that I didn't enjoy the inauguration, I just saw this and thought it was funny.

The best thing about these is that they certainly fill up the time where the stupid commentators talk.

Seven Months for Erin & Matt!

Today marks seven months in our married life! Matt and I were married on June 18, 2008 in the Salt Lake City temple. It was such a gorgeous day. We had a wonderful time with family and friends - we constantly want to go back and relive the it over again. I woke up on our wedding day and headed to get my hair done at 6 a.m. My good friend Allison went with me, she was so amazing all day! (photo: Allison and her husband Travis) My hair was done a bit early so Allison and I stopped off at Wild Oats and picked up a muffin and some water - I was starving.
We then arrived at the temple and Matt soon followed. Our sealing was so beautiful, family and friends were in the room with us - I'll always look back and remember that feeling when we sat waiting to be sealed. Our photographer Rebekah Westover, who was with us all day, organized our family and friends beautifully on the temple steps to get some memorable shots. We then had one-on-one time with Rebekah. Our luncheon was at Ab's Drive-In in West Jordan! It was so much fun! I can tell you that going casual on the luncheon was the best. Weddings have become so personal, you can pretty much do whatever you want on your day. From there I went to get a touch-up on my hair and we made our way to Millcreek Inn for our reception. I must say that getting everything in one spot for the reception was a genius idea. I told every vendor we worked with that one of the most important parts of the day was keeping my mom cool - I wanted no stress to go her way. (Above: Matt's friend Skyler wrote a song just for us and performed it at our reception.)(Below: we have a tradition in our family that the father puts the garter on and the husband takes it off. This is me and my dad at Millcreek Inn just before the reception.)We also had a photo booth at the reception. Every guest got in and six pictures were taken. The guests got the keep three and we kept the rest in our guest book - I recommend this for everyone!Seven months ago we experienced the best day of our lives! I love you, honey! Being with you has been the most fantastic, incredible, funny and exciting time of my life - I'm so glad you picked me!

Defeating the Common Cold.

I started getting sick on Monday. The sore throat opened the gate to all sorts of phlegm. Luckily I've had the chance to get lots of rest and I feel like I'm on the mend. I've taken ibuprofen along with Tylenol Cold. When the Tylenol ran out I mixed Benadryl with Malox (always mix equal parts, I mix two teaspoons of each) this does wonders for a sore throat, it can also be used on a nasty canker sore. Anyway, this mixture numbs the throat, and usually puts me to sleep so I typically take it at night.
Well, I know this has been a very interesting blog entry, you'd think that I could come up with something better now that I've been on my couch for four days.
I do, however have some things to add about the Golden Globes. I so enjoyed seeing Kate Winslet win twice, she's so amazing to watch.
I don't know about Mickey Rourke, he looked extremely disheveled.

One of my favorite shows, "30 Rock" had a great night, I love everything that Tina Fey does, she's so hilarious.
I'm also so excited that American Idol has started up again. And, for those of you who missed the last episode of "The Office" go to NBC.com to watch it!
So, in short, the best way to beat the common cold is television, a wonderful husband and an awesome boss who totally understands. Happy middle of January, here's to warmer weather sooner!

Today, we clean!

So, it's a new semester. Matt had class at 8:30 a.m. so I've just been getting things organized in the house. Once that's done I'll be starting on a project for Talin, Jen and Ezra - it's a surprise, I'm not going to tell. The best thing about a clean house is the feeling I have when it's done. Matt is such a good help when he's home, but he's so busy I usually have it done by the time he gets home. Here's what the apartment looks like when it's clean. My aunts Jill and Diane made that awesome tablecloth, they gave it to us for our wedding. As you can see we have a lot of cupboard space, which is awesome. The red chair came from Ikea, along with our t.v. stand, bookshelf and desk. We love Ikea!! Our couch came from Home Again, a great consignment store in Midvale.
I've also been enjoying "The Office" today. We have a subscription to Netflix and we can watch many shows online, which is what I've been doing while I clean. I just wanted to thank my mom and dad for teaching me how to clean well, I have this thing where if I clean I need to get down and scrub it until it's shiny - for that I thank mom and dad, it's great to know how to work hard and be proud of what I accomplish! Don't worry mom, I cleaned around the toilet bowl. Love you!
